The International Day of the Tree is celebrated annually on April 25 and is one of the largest and most successful participatory actions in tree and forest protection.
On April 26, 2023, the traditional spring cleaning took place in the southern area of Lennépark in line with this day of action and as part of the "Social Day" of the branch of Deutsche Bank AG. The employees of the branch of Deutsche Bank AG were supported by the students of class 8e of the Karl-Liebknecht-Gymnasium, partners of the citizens' initiative Lennépark, employees of the city administration as well as the BBW Bildungszentrum.
The focus of the joint participatory action was the basic cleaning and maintenance of the children's play area, the cleaning of the park benches, the collection of trash and the maintenance of the path and shrub areas.
In addition, as part of the spring cleaning, a young ash tree, which was donated by the Wenzel family, was given a plaque on which the name of the donors is immortalized.
At the end, Grit Rost, branch manager of Deutsche Bank AG, presented the students of class 8 e with a donation check for their class project.
