Action period in Strausberg and local districts extended until January 31, 2023

In Strausberg, many consumers have been slowing down surfing the Internet. A challenge that has unfortunately made streaming, shopping or even chatting on the Internet difficult until now. Thanks to the federal "Broadband Expansion" program, which is funded by the federal government, the state and the district, slow Internet speeds could soon be a thing of the past. How is this possible? Quite simply, the federal funding program provides that underserved addresses located in the so-called white spot can receive a 100% free fiber-optic home connection. In Strausberg and local districts, this is still possible until 31.01.2023 - the action period was extended.

Check address, submit property use contract and secure house connection

In order for the fiber optic connection to be implemented free of charge, homeowners must sign and return the property use contract to Stadtwerke Schwedt. All eligible households have received this first document by mail. Anyone who has not received the contract can check at www.glasfaser-sws.de whether their property is in the eligible area and then go to Downloads -> Fiber optic network -> Orders and forms to retrieve the form. Property owners who cannot currently be offered an Internet connection with a speed of more than 30 Mbit/s are eligible. The addresses that can receive a subsidized fiber-optic home connection were identified and explicitly defined as part of a market investigation process. They will all receive the free fiber-optic connection directly into their own home, company or institution - if they order this accordingly. The district is actively supporting the project and hopes that as many as possible will accept the offer. It should be mentioned that e.discom will implement the subsidized fiber optic expansion under all circumstances. Regardless of whether other telecommunications providers carry out their own fiber optic expansion - the project plan for Strausberg will not be influenced by what happens on the market.

The project is being implemented by e.discom Telekommunikation GmbH as the expanding company and network operator. e.discom is supported by Stadtwerke Schwedt, which is responsible for marketing the project and organizing on-site visits as a cooperation partner. "The project shows quite clearly how important fast Internet has become among the population. The demand is there, not least because of the now more widespread opportunities to work from home," said Stefan Döring, Head of Telecommunications at Stadtwerke Schwedt, adding, "We can only appeal to people to take advantage of the free fiber-optic home connection and secure their digital future. In return, we guarantee to be available with our competent staff to advise on all questions, concerns and worries."
