A film about them became a hit: the Hamburg senior citizens' choir "Heaven can wait", whose members are all over 70 years old, will soon be performing at Frankfurt's Theaterhaus Kleist Forum. On April 18, 2026, the 35 or so singers, who together bring over 2,000 years of life to the stage, will charmingly and full of joie de vivre overturn common prejudices about older people.
The repertoire includes current hits from the grandchildren's generation that everyone knows. In their interpretation, however, the songs have a different effect, as they gain a surprising depth from the perspective of these experienced people. The choir also presents songs they have composed and written themselves. Touching songs that deal with big themes that are rarely mentioned in the young pop world: What is the meaning of life? What does happiness mean? How do I deal with the subject of death? Performed with passion and a good dose of humor, the choir radiates wisdom without lecturing. Instead, it celebrates the "now" and the power of music as a source of joie de vivre and self-realization.
