A digital giveaway market for Märkisch-Oderland has been online since February 23. Citizens of the district can use it to give away household items in good condition or exchange them for other everyday items free of charge and without the hassle of creating an account. The waste management company MOL is thus also gradually developing the digital services offered by its waste app MOL.

Second-hand is very much in vogue: the reuse of furniture, electronic devices and textiles is at an all-time high in Germany. In 2021, for example, a total of around three million tons of second-hand products found new owners.

To make regional giving away and swapping in the district as easy as possible, the Märkisch-Oderland waste disposal company is expanding its range of services to include a digital giveaway market. Advertisements can be published on this platform without creating an account and free of charge. Users can create their advertisements simply by entering their email address and/or a telephone number and optionally upload up to 5 photos per item.

The giveaway market has been available since February 23, 2024 via the website www.verschenkemarkt-mol.de as well as directly via the "AbfallApp MOL".

The waste app was given a new start menu with the desired qualitative improvements (e.g. displaying appointments directly in the start menu, tracking the status of bulky waste applications, etc.). In addition, there is an interface from the give-away market to the online application for bulky waste disposal so that furniture or electrical appliances in good condition can be offered as a gift to others before they are disposed of. This means that citizens can advertise individual/all items from the bulky waste order directly on the give-away market with just a few clicks while the bulky waste collection is being scheduled (usually up to 14 days). If no one accepts the offer to give away an item by the collection date, it will be disposed of as regular bulky waste. Make a personal contribution to waste avoidance by giving away and exchanging well-preserved household items!
