The next special public tour of St. Mary's Church in Frankfurt (Oder) is on the programme: on Wednesday, 10 June at 3.00 pm, the focus will be on the important stained glass of the choir windows. "From the beginning and end of the world – the choir windows of St Mary's" is the title of the one-hour tour of the church.

The three choir windows, which are more than 650 years old, are known as the glass treasure of St Mary's Church. Nowhere else in Brandenburg and beyond is there a comparable collection of medieval stained glass. The Antichrist window is even considered unique.

During this guided tour, participants will learn details about the creation of the windows and their whereabouts after the Second World War, when they were taken to Russia and were considered lost for decades. They returned to Frankfurt (Oder) in 2002 and were extensively restored. Selected scenes from the biblical window motifs and the special features of the Antichrist window will also be discussed.

Tickets

Tickets for 5.00 euros will be sold exclusively on the day of the event from 10.00 am in the St. Marien shop. Reservations for this guided tour can be made immediately by telephone on 0335 22442 or in person in the information and shop area of the church. Reserved tickets must be paid for and collected no later than 30 minutes before the start of the tour on the day of the event. After that, the reservation expires. The tour is also suitable for people with limited mobility and young people over the age of 14.

The offer is organised by the Kulturbüro Frankfurt (Oder). It is led by historian Henriette Brendler.
