Summer School Viadrinicum on ruptures in urban space

Building on the discussions surrounding the concept of the learning city during previous editions, this year's Summer School Viadrinicum will focus on ruptures in the urban fabric from August 18 to 31. Under the title "Urban Dis/locations. Ruptures and Reimaginations", the focus is on the effects of (historical) neglect and traces of emancipatory interruptions to the established order of things. International students, young academics, civil society activists, artists and cultural practitioners critically examine the foundations of the city as a contested, emerging entity shaped by regimes of urban planning and management, property relations and housing practices.
The opening lecture of the summer school entitled "Becoming a #PoeticAcademic: Dis/Locating the Writing Self" will be held by urban sociologist and cultural geographer Dr. Friederike Landau-Donnelly on Monday, 18 August, 6.15 p.m. The English-language event will take place in the Logensaal, Logenstraße 11. All interested parties are cordially invited to attend.
