In Frankfurt (Oder), this year's International Day of Brick Gothic is dedicated to burial and memorial culture.
Under the title "Out and out! Or? - Themed day of memorial culture in St. Mary's", there will be a series of lectures with a panel discussion followed by guided tours and walks through churches and the urban space on 20 June 2026 between 10 am and 5 pm at St. Mary's Church in Frankfurt (Oder).
In addition to lectures on the historical development and the significance and preservation of memorial images and burial sites for society, the panel discussion will also address how death, mourning and remembrance are dealt with in our time in different religions and outside of them.
The guided tours not only provide an insight into the restoration practice of the baroque hereditary burial ground of St. Marien, but also show traces of Frankfurt cemeteries and other memorial sites.

A maximum of 150 people can take part in the event.
