How did the former Frankfurt residential complex Halbe Stadt come into being? The exhibition HALBE STADTansichten tells about it.

Where and when?

2. to 31. May 2023
Exhibition opening: Tuesday | 2.5.2023 | 16 clock
MehrGenerationenHaus MIKADO | Franz-Mehring-Strasse 20 (1st floor)

At the exhibition opening, after a brief tour of the exhibition, a tour of the residential area will also be offered to collect views of individual places in the urban space.

In Frankfurt (Oder), socialism has left clear traces in terms of construction. The historic old town was extensively destroyed in 1945 and provided space for modern visions. Residential blocks rise above it, also known as the city wall or city crown due to the visual impression of the connected slice high-rise buildings: the Halbe Stadt residential complex. The project HALBE STADTansichten deals with this residential area located on the Oder slope, its history, use and identity.

At various events in May and June, the project explores facets of the urban space and its use together with residents. In order to also show today's HALBE STADT in the exhibition, views of Frankfurt (Oder) continue to be accepted from residents of the residential area. Photos showing views out of apartment windows can be submitted by email to the Frankfurt (Oder) Cultural Office to Magdalena Scherer by Monday, April 24, 2023.
