On Tuesday, January 28, 2025, the Committee for Education, Culture and Sport of the Oder-Spree district decided on the applications submitted for the 2025 project year with a funding requirement of more than 1,500 euros.

The cultural office had received 32 applications with a total funding requirement of more than 232,000 euros by November 30, 2024 for the total of 190,400 euros allocated for this purpose in the current budget. The total cost of the projects submitted is around 945,000 million euros.

The district will ultimately fund 29 cultural projects - the overall funding rate is 80 percent.

Among the projects for which funding has been applied for and now secured are music festivals such as "Jenseits von Millionen" (Friedland), the Fürstenwalder Jazztage and the current edition of the Axel Titzki Foundation's competition for up-and-coming bands (Eisenhüttenstadt). In addition to established formats such as the "Film ohne Grenzen" festival in Bad Saarow and the 28th edition of Fürstenwalde's "Ermutigung", an exhibition of art by people with disabilities, the district is also supporting new applicants such as blu:boks Brandenburg (Friedland), which is planning a year-round series of creative workshops for young people.

The senior citizens' theatre group "Die Waldemars" based in Heinersdorf, the CTA-Kulturverein Nord in Fürstenwalde with its "Töpfern mobil plus", the children and youth festival "YOUANDME" by the Kunst- und Kulturiniative Schöneiche e.V. (Kulturgießerei) and the Woltersdorfer Kabinett association, which is once again organizing a "Festival für Kunst und Gegenwart" in 2025 with "Radio Industry", will also receive financial support. In Eisenhüttenstadt, the InterKultur VielFarben association, which is celebrating 30 years at the "Club Hans Marchwitza" this year, is one of the recipients of a grant. In addition, "Das Schiff Esperanza", staged by the theater.land e.V. group, will dock in Eisenhüttenstadt with financial support from the district: The occasion for the drama production is the 70th anniversary of the Friedrich-Wolf-Theater.

Good to know: Applications with a funding requirement of less than 1,500 euros for the second half of 2025 can still be submitted until the end of May.
