Jens Warnken, President of the Cottbus Chamber of Industry and Commerce, comments on the Brandenburg government crisis on behalf of the Brandenburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce:
"From a business perspective, talks with the CDU on the formation of a new state government must start immediately so that the government crisis in Brandenburg can be overcome quickly. There can be no hanging around until the summer months. Forming a government quickly is also an opportunity to lift the poor mood in companies and restore trust in politics.
Brandenburg's economy needs clear conditions and a stable government that pursues reliable and future-oriented economic policies. It owes this to the unsettled citizens and companies in our state.
Almost half of Brandenburg's Chamber of Industry and Commerce companies recently stated that they were not investing at all or only to a very limited extent. Yet these investments in innovations, technologies, business areas and skilled workers are urgently needed. However, this will only change when relief becomes noticeable and political stability makes the future more predictable.
Independent of personnel decisions, it is therefore important that the sometimes good work of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and cooperation with the chambers continues. What is important to Brandenburg's economy is a rapid modernization of the infrastructure, a comprehensive reduction in bureaucracy, the provision of attractive large commercial areas, a reorganization of vocational orientation at Brandenburg schools and a strong supply of skilled workers as well as the strengthening of bilateral cooperation with Poland and an end to border controls."
