Traditionally, Lord Mayor René Wilke invites on the first Sunday in January to a New Year's reception, which hundreds of citizens use to inform themselves about current developments in the city and start together into the new year.
In the last two years, this reception had to be cancelled as a presence event due to pandemic and was replaced by digital formats. In 2023, it will again take place as an in-person event.
On Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., a cordial invitation is extended to the Kleist Forum (Great Hall). Interested parties should note this date in their diaries.
Background of the shift to the end of January is the current final phase of the application process for the Future Center for German Unity and European Transformation. In order to be able to disclose the contents of the application to the urban community, which is an essential part of the application process, a date after the non-public visit of the jury is necessary for the preparation of the location decision.
