The previously announced 3rd secondary school will open in Frankfurt (Oder) at the start of the 2026/27 school year. This will expand the range of secondary schools in the city. The two existing secondary schools Heinrich von Kleist and Ulrich von Hutten will be relieved and a contribution will be made to better learning and teaching conditions at all secondary schools.
This means that parents whose children are transferring from elementary school to a secondary school next school year will now have another choice. As part of the registration procedure for the transition to lower secondary level, also known as the Ü7 procedure, they can make a note of this on the registration documents at elementary school.
Christoph Reinz is known to many parents as a teacher at Ulrich von Hutten Oberschule. He has now been appointed acting principal of the new 3rd secondary school by the Frankfurt (Oder) State Education Authority.
The school has been approved as a three-form secondary school by the Brandenburg Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MBJS) and is designed as a growing school. This means that two seventh grades will initially be accepted and taught in the first school year. Further classes will then be added in the following school years.
Many Frankfurters know the future school building of the 3rd secondary school at Potsdamer Straße 1–2 as the vocational school of the semiconductor plant or as the bbw education center. Now it is being converted with funding for use as a school building for the 3rd secondary school. Planning is underway and initial work will begin in the spring so that pupils can be welcomed into bright, friendly and technically newly equipped rooms in time for the start of the school year on August 25, 2026.
