The Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU)'s Forensic Sciences and Engineering continuing education programme, which is unique in Germany, invites you to the start of a particularly topical lecture series on Friday, 15 May 2026.
All interested parties are welcome to attend from 5:30 to 7 pm in the large lecture hall at the BTU's Cottbus central campus at Konrad-Zuse-Straße 4. Admission is free. Registration is not required.
Under the patronage of the Brandenburg Football Association (FLB) and using the example of FC Energie Cottbus e.V. (FCE), the event will focus on the Bundesliga football stadium as a crime scene. Operational and match safety in professional football are the focus of this series of events. The starting point for this is the ongoing discussion about security issues, which has recently led to public statements from the fan scene in the form of protests during prime time league coverage.

Preceded by an introduction by Prof. Dr Patricia M. Schütte from the German Police University in Münster - honorary member of the Prevention and Security Commission of the German Football Association (DFB).
Match operations in football in the third, second or first Bundesliga create pressure that forces professionalisation. This affects the entire match operations and develops effects that extend far beyond the stadium and its location and into the region. Football clubs cannot avoid regulations and legal requirements relating to security and need the capacity and expertise to successfully overcome such challenges. The focal points of this and how security should be dealt with conceptually will be addressed and exemplified.
The opening lecture on the topic of camera technology in stadium security will be given by Prof. Dr Dirk Labudde. Dirk Labudde, who heads the Forensic Science Investigation Lab research group at Mittweida University of Applied Sciences

Background
The lecture series "On the trail of the offence in the football stadium" is a first attempt to discuss security issues objectively and neutrally. The aim of the evening events is to look at the topic of security as a necessary part of match operations in professional football from different perspectives. In this respect, the requirements, effects and expectations of such a concept and the relevant operation of professional football must also be scientifically analysed. The German Football Association (DFB) expressly supports this and welcomes future and optional cooperation.
