ALCARO Invest receives building permit for second hall at Log Plaza Frankfurt (Oder)

ALCARO Invest, owner-managed and nationwide active specialist for the development, operation and letting of logistics and commercial real estate, has received the building permit for the second logistics property at Log Plaza Frankfurt (Oder). René Wilke, Mayor of the City of Frankfurt (Oder), personally handed over the building permit yesterday to Peter Bergmann and Arne Haeger, the responsible project managers at ALCARO Invest. A day earlier, the client symbolically handed over the construction site to the general contractor, the construction company GOLDBECK. Construction is scheduled to begin in March 2024.

ALCARO is part of the OSMAB group of companies from Rösrath. The logistics and industrial area Log Plaza Frankfurt (Oder), which ALCARO is driving forward on the site of the Freight Village South, is thus entering the next expansion phase. The first logistics hall – Hall A – with a total rental area of 47,500 square meters was completed in 2022 and fully leased to the EV Cargo Group. The new Hall B will have a total rental area of over 100,000 square meters, of which around 90,000 will be hall space. It is being developed to the highest sustainability standards and is suitable for a variety of uses, including approval for the storage of lithium-ion batteries. Initial space inquiries have already been received from potential tenants in the fields of electromobility and solar energy. The building application for the third Hall C is currently being prepared.

Peter Bergmann, Project Manager at ALCARO Invest, comments: "With the construction of Hall B, we are sending out a clear signal for the Frankfurt (Oder) region as a logistics location. The establishment of TESLA has created an extensive value chain for electromobility. The demand for space in East Brandenburg has therefore increased enormously."

Arne Haeger, Project Manager at ALCARO Invest, adds: "But it is only the good cooperation with the city of Frankfurt (Oder), the approval authorities and the city's business development agency that makes a construction project like our Log Plaza possible. René Wilke, Mayor of the City of Frankfurt (Oder), says: "Log Plaza Frankfurt (Oder) strengthens the positioning of our region as both a logistics and industrial location. With the new mega construction phase, we are also jointly signaling to industry that we have the right location conditions and prerequisites for efficient supply chains. Directly adjacent to the Log Plaza Frankfurt (Oder), we as a city are jointly developing a new industrial area on the A12 with a total size of over 40 hectares with the support of the state of Brandenburg. Synergy effects between the two areas are tangible. Together with innovative companies, we want to create new and future-proof jobs here."

Christopher Nüßlein, Managing Director of Investor Center Ostbrandenburg, adds: "Efficient modes of transport are the prerequisite for logistics and manufacturing companies to settle here. The multimodality with road and rail in the Frankfurt (Oder) freight center offers companies transport alternatives and transport security in equal measure. Nowadays, this is a decisive criterion in international location competition."

The Log Plaza Frankfurt (Oder) is ideally located in terms of transport strategy. With its direct connection to the A12 Paris-Warsaw highway and the B112 running north-south, Frankfurt (Oder) is one of the busiest highway border crossings in Germany. The intermodal terminal Frankfurt (Oder) enables combined transport, which ensures a stable and daily realization to the North Range ports, such as Hamburg, Antwerp and Rotterdam, Bremerhaven as well as to the Baltic Sea port of Gdansk.

ALCARO Invest developed the Log Plaza concept in 2014 and is continuously adapting it to modern standards. The Log Plaza Frankfurt (Oder) meets all sustainability standards and is being developed ESG-ready and DGNB-certified. The use of modern heat pumps in combination with underfloor heating eliminates the use of fossil fuels. ALCARO is thus making an important contribution to decarbonizing the real estate sector.
