New election of arbitrators in preparation

The city of Frankfurt (Oder) is looking for applicants for the December 2023 upcoming new election of the two arbitration boards established in the city area. In the event of a decision to mutually represent the arbitration boards, the election of deputy arbitrators will be dispensable.

According to the Brandenburg Arbitration and Conciliation Act, the arbitrators to be elected by the City Council and to be confirmed / appointed by the Director of the District Court of Frankfurt (Oder) and, if necessary, the respective deputy arbitrators perform their duties in an honorary capacity for a five-year term of office.

The activity of the arbitration boards serves in principle the extrajudicial conciliation in civil disputes of property and partly also non-property nature. This includes the pre-court dispute resolution prescribed by the Brandenburg Arbitration Act in certain neighboring law matters as well as in disputes due to violation of personal honor.

Arbitrators must be suitable for the office according to their personality and abilities. They must not have lost the ability to hold public office and not be in a financial collapse. Arbitrators should have reached the age of 25, live in the area of the respective arbitration board and have judgment, reliability and balancing skills.

The (deputy) arbitrators designated for election after the interviews shall apply for a certificate of good conduct from the Federal Central Register - certificate of good conduct for submission to the authority - which shall also be submitted to the director of the district court as part of the confirmation. In case of first-time appointment as (deputy) arbitrator, an introductory training course is provided.
