From December 1 to 24, 2024, the Living Advent Calendar Frankfurt (Oder) – Słubice traditionally invites you on a Christmas journey of discovery through the twin city. This year, visitors can once again look forward to a varied, free program that connects the cultural and commercial institutions in Frankfurt (Oder) and Słubice in a festive Advent atmosphere.
Festive opening on 1 December
The opening of the Living Advent Calendar will take place on Sunday, 1 December at the Advent Market at the Wichern Diakonie. Frankfurt's Lord Mayor René Wilke and the Mayor of Słubice Marzena Słodownik will welcome the guests together with the Chairwoman of the Board of Wichern Diakonie from 2:00 p.m. In the glow of lights and torches, visitors can expect a program in the Wichern Chapel as well as the sale of handicraft products from the Gronenfeld workshops and delicacies from the pot and pan until 7 pm. A children's carousel, pony rides and a petting zoo also await the youngest guests. The event will conclude with communal singing with the guests.
Diverse events in the run-up to Christmas
The festive opening will be followed by a varied Advent offer. From December 2 to 24, a total of 28 events will follow. Cultural institutions, social institutions, businesses and clubs will be opening their doors and inviting people to meet up in a cozy Advent atmosphere.
Among the activities are concerts, workshops, city tours around Christmas traditions, baking together and singing Christmas carols in St. Mary's Church.
