On the occasion of Europe Day, the 5th Frankfurt-Słubice Citizens' Picnic will take place on Saturday, 9 May, from 1.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. in Słubice on the square of the twin city, in front of the Collegium Polonicum library.
- Science and the environment: The Maritime Science Centre Szczecin and the Dziupla Inicjatyw Przyrodniczych Foundation invite you to experiment. Visitors can make activated carbon filters to purify the Oder water or create colourful sea creatures with sodium alginate.
- Safety on the water: The fire brigades of both cities and the water rescue service will be demonstrating life-saving techniques.
- Experience Europe: International volunteers from PeWoBe gGmbH challenge visitors with a Europe quiz and a mobile escape room. The Euroregion Pro Europa Viadrina will provide advice on project funding from the KPF fund and the Joint Secretariat on the Interreg VI A cooperation programme.
- Double city development to participate in: Citizens can vote on the future design of the Oder promenades and the vision of a "cross-border city centre by the river" on presentation boards and discuss the future of the cross-border bus line 983 with the municipality of Słubice.
- For the physical well-being is provided with a barbecue buffet. There will be a stage programme with music, discussions on European topics and a live DJ.
- Further attractions around the stage: bouncy castles, craft trails, animations and LEGO workshops
The event is a cooperation between the city of Frankfurt (Oder), the municipality of Słubice, the Collegium Polonicum Foundation and international volunteers from PeWoBe gGmbH.

- 8. May | 9.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m.: 250 pupils from Frankfurt (Oder) and a school class from Słubice have registered for an environmental event on the island of Ziegenwerder.
From the workshop programme: sandbag construction and protective wall construction for flood protection, tree care and bats, graffiti "Life on the river" and further participation in the Ziegenwerder restoration project

- For the period from May 4 to 15, the city of Frankfurt (Oder) has received permission from both German and Polish authorities to decorate the city bridge with 30 European flags.
