The German-Polish Senior Citizens' Academy invites you to a lecture on senior citizens' policy in Germany and Poland on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. The event will take place in the small lecture hall of the Collegium Polonicum in Słubice.

The speakers will be:

  • Katharina Slanina, Land Chairwoman of the Left Party Brandenburg and Chairwoman of the Association Council of Volkssolidarität Brandenburg, will present German senior citizens' policy
  • Martyna Szymborska, Head of the Senior and Day Center in Słubice, who has accompanied the senior citizens' projects at the Collegium Polonicum Foundation for some time, will explain Polish senior citizens' policy

The speakers will discuss the structures and policies for senior citizens in Germany and Poland. They will talk about poverty in old age and financial support and benefits in old age. They will also discuss social integration to combat loneliness and the challenges and financing of retirement homes. This will be followed by a Q&A session with students from the Senior Citizens Academy.

The German-Polish Seniors' Academy is organized in cooperation with the Karl Dedecius Foundation, the Collegium Polonicum Foundation, the Collegium Polonicum/Adam Mickiewicz University Poznań, the European University Viadrina, the Seniors' Advisory Council of the City of Frankfurt (Oder) and the Frankfurt-Słubice Cooperation Centre.
