On 11 December 2024, the foundation stone was ceremonially laid for the new fire department technical center at Am Biotop in Strausberg.
The district of Märkisch-Oderland has a fire department technical center (FTZ) with an integrated disaster control warehouse to fulfil its tasks in supra-local fire protection and supra-local assistance. The FTZ includes the respiratory protection workshop, hose laundry with workshop, the respiratory protection training facility and a warehouse for the storage of extinguishing agents, B and C hoses and respiratory protection equipment, among other things.
The FTZ is also a training and further education facility for firefighters and members of the aid organizations.
