The Karl Dedecius Foundation at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder), in collaboration with the Ecumenical European Centre Frankfurt (Oder) e. V. and Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw (UKSW), to a German-Polish educational and exchange seminar in Warsaw. The study trip will take place from 15 to 20 September 2026 and is themed ‘35 Years of the Neighbourhood Treaty: Memory – Dialogue – Future’.
The seminar will focus on the history and present state of German-Polish relations, as well as the prospects for social and cultural dialogue in Europe. The programme includes meetings with representatives from academia, politics, culture and the church, themed city tours, museum visits, and discussions on the culture of remembrance and the future of German-Polish cooperation.
The programme includes visits to the Warsaw Uprising Museum, the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews and the Museum of Modern Art. In addition, meetings and discussions with key figures in German-Polish dialogue are planned, for example at the Sejm and at the Foundation for German-Polish Cooperation. The programme is rounded off with a concert at the Museum of the Archdiocese of Warsaw.
The trip costs 550 euros per person (plus a 50-euro single room supplement where applicable). A reduced price is available on request for participants from Poland. The trip is funded by the Foundation for German-Polish Cooperation.
The return journey will be by coach from and to Frankfurt (Oder). We are seeking recognition of the event as educational leave.
