According to the organizer, Messe- und Veranstaltungs GmbH (MuV), the "Bunte Hering" promises to be the largest German-Polish folk festival in East Brandenburg. The traditional evening concert by the Singakademie on Thursday, July 11 at 10 p.m. in St. Mary's Church marks the start of three days of music on four stages. The Hanseatic City Festival will be officially opened the following day at 6 p.m. on Brunnenplatz by Frankfurt's Lord Mayor René Wilke and his new Słubice counterpart Marzena Słodownik with the tapping of a beer barrel by Frankfurter Brauhaus and 1000 fish sandwiches for the physical well-being of visitors.

From Friday to Sunday, July 12 to 14, visitors will be offered a wide range of genres from German and Polish artists in the city center, from pop to jazz, pop to classical, rock to electronic and street music. At the southern Holzmarkt, the Blok O-Arena will be playing electro sounds from Pure FM, while folk-rock music will be played at the northern Holzmarkt. On the northern side of the town hall, the children's and youth area "Frankfurter Spaß Island" will offer free fun and games. The summer funfair will take place on the market square. In Bischofstraße, visitors can enjoy culinary delights from all over the world from the restaurateurs.

The city of Frankfurt (Oder) has set itself the task of making the Hanseatic City Festival "Bunter Hering" accessible again this year. In consultation with the project manager Robert Reuter, the City of Frankfurt (Oder)'s Disability Officer Isabell von Dechend and the members of the Advisory Board for People with Disabilities, special attention will be paid to parking facilities in the festival area. A parking permit must be applied for and received by Thursday, July 11.
