First electric bus in the Oder-Spree district © Landkreis Oder-Spree

A ten-metre-long electric bus has been on the road in the Oder-Spree district for the first time since Monday, 9 September. It can be experienced on the Fürstenwalde city transport lines, the PlusBus line Fürstenwalde-Storkow, line 432 Fürstenwalde-Müncheberg and line 434 Fürstenwalde-Jacobsdorf until Friday, September 20, 2024. The bus is running as part of a two-week test phase by Busverkehr Oder-Spree GmbH. It is firmly planned that a second electric bus model will be tested this year, then in the Erkner area.

"The Oder-Spree district is facing up to the challenge of putting modern local transport on the road," says Tim Jurrmann, an expert in the field of mobility planning and rural development. "Testing a new electric bus is one of many measures. In order to be well positioned for the future, we will promote even more innovative concepts and ideas."

Those who would like to try out the electric bus will have the opportunity to do so on Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 14 p.m. at the district administration's career day. Busverkehr Oder-Spree will present the new vehicle for the first time here. There will also be an opportunity to get to know an innovative Medi-Bus: a bus that has been converted into a GP surgery.

The careers day will take place on the grounds of the Beeskow district administration: Breitscheidstraße 7 in 15848 Beeskow.
