On Friday, March 24, 2023 at 16:00 in the in the Memorial and Documentation Center "Victims of political tyranny", Collegienstraße 10 the film "December storms. Or: Bumblebees on the Butt of Power. The end of the Stasi in Frankfurt (Oder)" shown.
The film by Christian Booß is dedicated to the events of December 5, 1989, when several thousand Frankfurt residents gathered in front of the district administration of the State Security. They demanded entry and demanded the cessation of the destruction of files.
Actors of the Frankfurt New Forum who were involved in the Peaceful Revolution have their say, as well as the last head of the MfS district administration of Frankfurt Heinz Engelhardt and the recently deceased last SED prime minister Hans Modrow.
Recordings show for the first time the present-day remains of the former Stasi district headquarters. Photos and film footage from the fall of 1989 and the end of the Ministry for State Security were contributed by Hartmut Kelm, Jürgen Herrmann as well as Olaf Ullmann ("October Spring").
The film is a production of the Aufarbeitungsverein Bürgerkomitee 15. Januar e.V., Berlin 2021/2022.
