In the new 2023|2024 season, Frankfurt's Kleist Forum will continue to be a reliable place for open encounters and shared experiences. This is what Florian Vogel, the artistic director of the house, says at the presentation of the new season book: "A place to dream, switch off, reflect, give courage, discuss and laugh. To this end, we have put together a multi-layered and diverse program with extraordinary performances from all branches of the performing arts. Over 200 times the curtain will rise on our stages."

Among the highlights of the season are world premieres and premieres, where stage stars and national and international ensembles will shake hands.

For example, the Staatstheater Augsburg is showing the Frankfurt premiere of "Extra Zero," a play about eating disorders and the mania for optimization, with which Elisabeth Pape won this year's Kleist-Förderpreis. With "Home - Pizza/Visa and a pledge to the Queen" by Teatre Blau, an international production will premiere on the stage of the Kleist Forum that deals with flight, home and social responsibility. Highly topical themes such as radicalization, fundamentalism, manipulation and morality provide material for further productions with Mathieu and Elena Carriére, Thomas and Arthur Thieme, Judith Rosmair and Suse Wächter - one of the most important puppeteers and puppet builders in German-speaking theater - seeing the light of day in Frankfurt (Oder). In addition, one of the world's best ballet dancers of the present day will come to the Kleist Forum: Friedemann Vogel, first soloist of the Stuttgart Ballet and winner of the most important dance awards. Together with choreographer Thomas Lempertz, he has developed the dance performance "Die Seele am Faden" (The Soul on a Thread) especially for Frankfurt (Oder), which, inspired by Kleist's essay "Über das Marionettentheater" (On the Marionette Theater), reflects on grace and gracefulness and their loss.

Kleist's best-known comedy "Der zerbrochene Krug" can be seen as a guest performance by Schauspiel Chemnitz with Jörg Schüttauf in the role of the village judge Adam. The former ZDF country doctor Walter Plathe slips into the role of Heinrich Zille and recites excerpts from his book "Hurengespräche" (Whore Talks), which caused a scandal at the time. The TV dream couple Mariele Millowitsch and Walter Sittler tells in "Alte Liebe" the story of a married couple in which a whole generation can recognize itself. From the most beautiful love letters of world literature read Christine Sommer and Martin Brambach - that the two are also in real life a couple, makes this evening with the title "These lonely nights" particularly exciting.

The Sandtheater Berlin presents a magical interpretation of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's "The Little Prince", in "Breakin' Mozart" breakdance and classical music meet and with the "Schmidt Show" a dazzling piece of the Reeperbahn comes directly to Frankfurt (Oder).

Guest performances by Brandenburg's partner theaters complete the program variety: lovers of grand opera performances will get their money's worth with "Der Rosenkavalier" and "Tosca," and operetta fans with "Märchen im Grand Hotel." In addition, drama classics such as "Antigone" and "Mephisto" are on the program, as well as comedies such as "Pension Schöller" and "Adam's Apples" and the premiere of the German-Polish fairy tale "Der kleine Muck" and a ballet evening about Freddie Mercury.

Audience favorites such as the MOZ Talks, the Best of Poetry Slam and the "Blue Wednesday" will continue. The international festival for song and world music transVOCALE celebrates its 19th edition in November. And in July, the Fantadu children's and youth circus from Wiesenau presents its new show, which attracts thousands of guests every year just before the vacations.

The start of the new season celebrates the Kleist Forum on September 16 with a theater festival for young and old.

From 1 to 5 p.m. there is a colorful program in the house and on the forecourt with free admission. In the hall, the stage technology shows what it can do and makes the magic of theater and illusions come alive with a show full of light and sound effects. In addition, there is sand theater and comedy magic, a silent film concert, a children's party and a graffiti workshop.
