Most recently, the lawyer held a professorship for public law at the University of Erfurt. She was awarded the Science Prize of the German Bundestag for her research on institutional Union law and the EU's defense policy.
Jelena von Achenbach combines legal analysis with constitutional theory in her work. In addition to research and teaching, as an expert in the field of public law and international law, she also provides policy advice and modern academic communication. She is a sought-after analyst on legal issues relating to current, sometimes explosive legal questions: from considerations on an AfD ban procedure, electoral law and refoulement at German borders to the defense policy of the European Union.
