Brandenburg's chambers of industry and commerce are launching free courses to teach trainees how to implement energy-saving projects in their companies.

Frankfurt (Oder), Potsdam, Cottbus – companies in Brandenburg will once again have the opportunity to train their trainees in energy saving in 2026: The EnergyScout courses organised by the Brandenburg Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHKs) will start on 16 March and impart practical knowledge about energy efficiency, climate protection and resource conservation. As EnergyScouts, the trainees learn how energy can be saved in the company – with real added value for the company.

Interested companies can register their trainees with immediate effect. Unlike in many other federal states, participation is free of charge for companies in Brandenburg. The first online course will take place from 16 to 20 March 2026. Further courses are already planned: a face-to-face course in May 2026 and an online course from 28 September to 2 October 2026. After the course, the trainees will complete a two-month practical phase in their company during which they will develop their own energy-saving project.

The "EnergyScout Programme" is part of the Brandenburg Energy Technology Initiative (ETI). It supports small and medium-sized companies in preparing for the energy transition. The project is funded by the Brandenburg Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour, Energy and Climate Protection and the East Brandenburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

Daniel Keller, Minister of Economic Affairs, Labour, Energy and Climate Protection for the state of Brandenburg, says: "The additional qualification of trainees as energy scouts strengthens the expertise of junior staff and makes a measurable contribution to energy efficiency in the training company. The programme is therefore a sustainable investment in Brandenburg's economic future in two respects."

"The projects show how often even small measures help companies to cut costs and reduce their CO2 emissions. The EnergyScouts make climate protection tangible on site," says Monique Zweig, Managing Director of IHK Ostbrandenburg.

In 2025, 45 trainees from companies across Brandenburg successfully took part in the project and implemented 26 projects on topics such as digital training certificates, LED conversion, photovoltaics and green roofs or optimising compressed air systems.
