To mark European Waste Prevention Week, the Märkisch-Oderland waste management company (EMO) is launching the Zero Waste Index MOL.

The Zero Waste Index is an online directory of regional companies, initiatives and facilities such as repair workshops, repair cafés, second-hand and unpackaged stores or rental services. With this new service, the district's own company is now helping all citizens to live more sustainably and with less waste. The digital platform is free of charge, ad-free and intuitive to use – both on the PC and on the go via smartphone.

But what does "zero waste" actually mean? The term describes a lifestyle that aims to produce as little waste as possible. The focus is on avoiding waste, reusing everyday items, repairing appliances and generally conserving resources.

The digital platform lists over 150 suppliers from the region, divided into four central areas: "Repair", "Second-hand", "Unpackaged" and "Rental and hire". In each area, users can search by sector and product group. The integrated area search shows which providers are located in the vicinity.

Missing providers are entered free of charge. Owners, but also citizens, can make suggestions. A simple form makes it possible to report missing businesses or initiatives. In this way, the Zero Waste Index continues to grow.
