The appeal of the subsidised fibre-optic network in the Märkisch-Oderland district continues to grow. The network operator e.discom has secured Telekom as a new, strong partner. This expands the company’s existing partner network, in which Telekom now acts as a key provider alongside Stadtwerke Schwedt and Plus-net.
This strategic move by e.discom to bring further well-known partners onto the existing infrastructure brings direct benefits for the region. “In total, around 22,000 households and businesses in the district will benefit directly and indirectly from an even wider range of products and more intense competition on the subsidised network,” said the broadband commissioner for the Märkisch-Oderland district.
Thanks to e.discom’s consistent ‘open-access’ model, the network is being opened up to various providers without the need for additional construction sites for further infrastructure expansion. This conserves resources and ensures that the region benefits quickly and sustainably from a high-performance and stable fibre-optic connection and thus high-speed internet. An essential prerequisite for the district’s future viability as a business location.
