A new professor and two new professors will strengthen the three faculties of the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) from the summer semester 2023. As of April 1, 2023, the media scientist Prof. Dr. Miglė Bareikytė, the economist Prof. Dr. Drahomir Klimsa and the lawyer Prof. Dr. Erol Pohlreich have each accepted a call to the Viadrina.
Prof. Dr. Miglė Bareikytė has been appointed Professor of Digital Studies. She joins the team of the European New School of Digital Studies (ENS) as an assistant professor. The media scholar conducts research on situated phenomena of digitization, including a focus on algorithmically driven work, digital aspects of war and accountability, and a focus on Eastern Europe. Prof. Dr. Miglė Bareikytė studied in Vilnius and Kaunas, Lithuania, and at the Free University of Berlin. Her professorship is a W1 professorship in the tenure-track program at Viadrina.

Prof. Dr. Drahomir Klimsa has been appointed professor of business administration, in particular taxation and accounting, since April 1. His research focuses on the impact of taxes on individuals, businesses, and the economy as a whole, and he has published articles on tax audits, tax havens, and tax competition, among other topics. Prof. Dr. Drahomir Klimsa moves from the University of Augsburg to the Viadrina, where he also looks forward to interdisciplinary exchange with Viadrina researchers on Central and Eastern European perspectives.
Drahomir Klimsa's W1 professorship concludes the current tenure-track program at the European University Viadrina - eight junior professorships have been successfully filled since the summer semester of 2021.

Prof. Dr. Erol Pohlreich is Professor of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure Law and Ancillary Areas at the Viadrina Faculty of Law. The jurist deals intensively with human rights issues, especially in the field of criminal law, and also takes a European law perspective. He takes up the W3 professorship at the Viadrina after several substitute positions, most recently at the University of Hanover. Erol Pohlreich had studied law in Berlin, Paris and Hamburg.
