From 12.00 noon on Thursday, 19 December 2024, Polnische Straße will be fully reopened to traffic after around seven months of full closure.
The road connection built in 2021 from Polnische Straße in Güterverkehrszentrum (GVZ) Frankfurt (Oder) Süd to the B 112 was extended by an additional lane over a length of 700 m in order to increase the efficiency of public transport access to GVZ-Süd. The logistics real estate developer ALCARO is currently planning and building the Log Plaza Frankfurt (Oder) industrial and logistics park on an area of around 440,000 m². Hall B, which is currently under construction and has a total floor space of around 100,000 m², is due to be completed next year.
At the same time, the measure that has now been implemented will ensure the basic traffic infrastructure for future industrial and commercial settlements in the adjacent "Industriegebiet an der A 12" (B-Plan area BP-18-002) to the south. In future, around 46 hectares of space will be available here for commercial companies to settle. Parallel to the development work, the city planning office is currently working on updating the planning law for the area.
Claus Junghanns, Mayor and Councillor for Economic Affairs: "With the opening of Polnische Straße, the first sub-project of the overall measure 'Development of IG A 12' is now on the home straight. Thanks to the professional and fast work of the contractors Buchwald and PORR from our region, it was possible to keep to the set schedule. I would like to thank everyone involved in this project who contributed to its success."
In addition to the road widening, an embankment fill was constructed on behalf of the city of Frankfurt (Oder) in preparation for a future footpath and cycle path and a new fire water pipe. A total of 46 trees were planted for ecological compensation. The Investitionsbank des Landes Brandenburg (ILB) is supporting the road construction project for the traffic development of the future IG A12 as part of the overall measure with an 80% subsidy of around 1.3 million euros.
The work for the drinking water and wastewater development of the IG A12, which is being carried out on behalf of FWA mbH, is already running in parallel and will be completed by mid-2026 according to the current status.
In the course of the opening of the extended road connection for public traffic, the so-called southern ramp of Polnische Straße will be closed again for traffic heading towards the BAB 12 and the B 112. Access to the Güterverkehrszentrum (GVZ) Süd and the Lichtenberg district from the direction of the BAB 12 and B 112 will continue to be via the southern ramp. From December 19, the new extended road connection will be used again for access to the B 112 from the GVZ Süd or from the direction of Lichtenberg.
Due to the weather, the complete road marking could not be applied, so the speed on the new connection has been reduced to 30 km/h for the time being and must be observed.
