The Bürgerbühne at the Kleist Forum presents "An der Grenze zur guten Hoffnung"
In its last major production of the 2023/24 season, the Bürgerbühne at the Kleist Forum focuses on life in Frankfurt (Oder) and Słubice: In "On the Border of Good Hope", people who have consciously chosen to live in the twin city tell why they absolutely want to stay here. The play developed by guest director Christiane Lehmann will celebrate its premiere at the Studiobühne on 24 May.
The result is a biographical-performative mosaic of good news that is all too rarely reported. Because everyone agrees on one thing: "Our city should become more beautiful!" But who will tackle it? And with what money anyway? Lots of building sites, lots of ideas, but too few people actually picking up the drill. "An der Grenze zur guten Hoffnung" is a witty declaration of love to the twin city that seeks happiness even when the bubbles burst. Colorful, quirky, melancholy.
Christiane Lehmann is a director, dramaturge and production manager. Before working as a dramaturge and artistic co-director at the Junges Deutsches Theater in Berlin from 2021 to 2023, she worked at the Bürger:Bühne at the Staatsschauspiel Dresden and as a guest lecturer and freelance theater educator. In addition to theater, she is constantly active in the field of electronic club culture as a festival director, format developer and moderator. From the 2024/25 season, Christiane Lehmann will take over the management of Bürger:Bühne at Staatsschauspiel Dresden.
