Two months before David Bowie's death in January 2016, his musical "Lazarus" celebrated its premiere in New York. On March 8, the musical legacy of this exceptional artist can be seen at the Kleist Forum in Frankfurt. The guest performance by the Hans Otto Theater Potsdam tells the story of an outsider who spends his life searching for a place where he really belongs. It is accompanied by 17 of Bowie's best-known songs, played live by an eight-piece band, including "Heroes", "Changes", "Absolute Beginners" and "Let's Dance".
Thomas Newton is an alien who came to Earth to save his dying home planet. But adverse circumstances left him stranded, and his attempts to adapt to earthly life failed. Years have passed since then, and Newton is still stuck on Earth. Lonely and disillusioned, he drowns his inner demons in gin, until one day a strange girl appears who awakens in him the hope of escaping the world after all.
An evening like a live concert, a tribute to an artist whose music is immortal and who fulfilled his long-cherished dream of his own great stage work with "Lazarus".
