With the signing of the cooperation agreement on emergency medical care between the Märkisch-Oderland district, the Uckermark district and the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, a significant step was taken today towards improving medical safety in the region between the Oderbruch and the Szczecin Lagoon. The agreement ensures that people in this border region can count on fast and professional help in the event of an emergency - regardless of national borders.

"I am delighted that we can close a significant gap with this agreement. It is a crucial building block in sustainably securing and improving emergency medical care in the Berlin-Stettin region. This joint project not only shows that we are very good partners, but also allies and in these difficult times, Europe must stand together," emphasized District Administrator Gernot Schmidt.

However, the cooperation agreement goes far beyond the optimization of emergency rescue services. It sends out a strong signal for the future of cross-border cooperation.

"Yesterday's INTERREG conference in Prenzlau showed us how urgent it is to deepen and target cooperation. We not only identified challenges, but also developed promising initial approaches," explained Managing Director of Gemeinnützige Rettungsdienst Märkisch-Oderland GmbH, Daniel Werner.

The cooperation agreement is intended to serve as a starting point for even closer collaboration - not only in the area of emergency care, but also in other areas that are important for people in the region.
