Gruppeplakat LIMESTONES

Bluegrass is a form of American country music and has its origins in the mountains of Kentucky, which is also known as the "Bluegrass State" because of the blue-green colour of the grass on the nutrient-rich soil. The music combines elements of country music with blues, swing, African-American dances and Christian gospel music. The lyrics of bluegrass music are deeply influenced by the Christian faith. The gospel influence is particularly evident here, while the melodies often sound like country and blues.

The LIMESTONES came together in 2021 between the lockdowns of the coronavirus pandemic, when many activities were impossible for a long time. The band features the classic bluegrass instruments banjo, cello, double bass, fiddle, guitar and mandolin. Twelve singers provide a mostly four-part sound, which is rather unusual for bands.

And so the concert on 29 May is a special musical experience. At 7 pm, it's "Come on up to the House" in St Michael's Church in Woltersdorf. In addition to classics of bluegrass music such as Wayfaring Stranger, I Saw The Light and Dark As The Night, the programme also includes some of Frank Müller-Brys', the leader of the LIMESTONES, own works, which fit perfectly into the musicians' repertoire.
