Every year, Frankfurt musicians Søren Gundermann and Thomas Strauch put us in the mood for the upcoming festive season with their program "Es ist ein Gnu entsprungen" and show that there is still a lot to discover in the more than 100-year-old Christmas songs. The mix of classics, jazz and witty performance can be experienced on December 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the Kleist Forum.

With piano and double bass, the two musicians embark on a sonic journey through the world of well-known melodies, which they have reworked in various styles from jazz to world music. Thus, "Silent Night" sounds like New Orleans ragtime and "A rose has sprung" in a West African style. The double bass sometimes becomes a drum and the grand piano is transformed into a buzzing harp using strips of paper. An evening between ironic distance and loving respect that sends the audience off into the festive season in high spirits.
