County councillor Gernot Schmidt is calling for participation in the district competition "Our village has a future" and encourages all municipalities and districts in our county to present their ideas and concepts for village development.

Gernot Schmidt comments: "The future of our villages is shaped by the commitment of the citizens. Being able to get involved, help shape and develop the community is one of the greatest joys of rural life."

The "Forum ländlicher Raum – Netzwerk Brandenburg" will be holding an online event on March 5, 2024 to provide information about the upcoming competition round. There will be an exchange of experiences about the competition and tips for successful participation and implementation. The district competition is based on the conditions of participation of the state of Brandenburg. Spatially contiguous municipalities or districts with a predominantly village character with up to 3,000 inhabitants are eligible to take part.

The expression of interest must be submitted by April 27 of this year.
All application documents must then be submitted by June 29.

The visit to the municipalities by the district evaluation commission will take place from September 2, 2024.
Attractive prize money and special awards are available in recognition of the achievements. The district competitions also serve as a preliminary decision for the state competition in 2025, in which the district winners from Brandenburg will take part. The state winners in turn qualify for the national "Our Village has a Future" competition in 2026.

Participation documents can be requested from:

Amt für Landwirtschaft und Umwelt
