"System. Woyzeck" is the name of the first major production of the Bürgerbühne at the Kleist Forum in the season 2023/2024, which celebrates its premiere on Saturday, November 4.
The performance explores Georg Büchner's drama fragment and translates it into today. Nine young people from Frankfurt (Oder) and the surrounding area let Woyzeck travel to the present and thus give him a fictional future. In the process, the fiction of the Woyzeck figure 2.0 encounters a world in which things seem to be even more complicated than they were in the 19th century. Again he encounters a bunch of egoists, wealth and poverty, hatred and resentment and a diffuse collection of achievements. Who are the good guys in this world, who are the bad guys – and what has become of "morality"? Will Woyzeck fail this time as well?
