Boxing legend Axel Schulz has already appeared on the stage of Frankfurt's Kleist Forum at the Kleist Festival 2024, and now the heavyweight has confirmed his appearance at the next performance of "Kleist K.O." on March 1 at 7:30 pm. As part of the literary performance with acting stars Thomas Thieme and Julia von Sell, the former boxer will talk about the fight of his life against George Foreman 30 years ago and bring along a small literary surprise from Kleist.
"Kleist K.o." brings together the Frankfurt (Oder)-born playwright Heinrich von Kleist and boxing for the first time. Touching scenes from the author's complete works merge with the biographies of great boxers from East and West. The evening, which was celebrated by the premiere audience, is not only a tribute to Heinrich von Kleist, but also to international sporting greats such as Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson and the Frankfurt boxing stars Manfred Wolke, Henry Maske and Axel Schulz. The musical bracket was created by musician and composer Arthur Thieme with great boxing anthems.
