Since January 20, the Green Week, the world's largest trade fair for food, agriculture and horticulture, has been in full swing. Thousands of people are still drawn to the 29 January on the exhibition grounds in Berlin. Like also the alderman Rainer Schinkel.

The tourism association Seenland Oder-Spree (TSOS) represents the entire travel region and thus also the district Märkisch-Oderland.

Rainer Schinkel (also chairman of the tourism association) met during his visit with Minister of Economics Dr. Jörg Steinbach, who is also responsible for tourism in Brandenburg. Topics around offers in tourism in the Oder-Spree lake district and the difficult situation for the hotel and restaurant industry and the possibilities of support by the state of Brandenburg were discussed. A visit of the minister in enterprises in the lake country, which produce and market regional products and around itself a picture over tourism industry in the region to make, was likewise in the discussion. The Corona pandemic seems to be almost over, the effects on the industry are not, the shortage of skilled workers is increasingly becoming a limiting factor. Here, for example, the Ministry of Economy, Labor and Energy (MWAE) is considering targeted recruitment of skilled workers through cooperation with other countries. This is one of several necessary measures to be able to continue the success story of tourism in recent years.

Another idea of the MWAE is to support the tourism industry around the Oder River with targeted marketing, because businesses in this area suffered only recently from the large fish kill in the Oder.

Rainer Schinkel: "The Oder-Spree lake district is always worth a trip or a day trip. Everyone can find out about interesting offers on the pages of the TSOS (www.seenland-oderspree.de). Last but not least, awards such as the 2nd place of our "late riser tours" at the "Pro-agro Marketing Prize" at the Green Week this year show that this is also perceived supra-regionally."
