Television stars Samuel Finzi and Herbert Knaup retell Charles Dickens' famous "Christmas Story" as a musical stage fairy tale for adults. On December 14 at 5 p.m., their interpretation can be experienced at the Theaterhaus Kleist Forum in Frankfurt (Oder).
In the interplay with the five musicians and in the aesthetics of old black and white films, the story about the old miser Ebenezer Scrooge, who is haunted by four ghosts on the eve of Christmas and rediscovers his humanity through them, unfolds an incredible liveliness. This story, first published in 1843, seems timeless and topical, as it emphasizes the value of charity and empathy in our dealings with one another, especially in an age of egocentrism. The two acting greats Knaup and Finzi succeed in ensuring that, in addition to the moral tone, the typically British quirky humor of the story is not neglected.
