The Ministry of Culture will support the theaters and orchestras of the state of Brandenburg with a total of 174 million euros over the next four years. To this end, Culture Minister Manja Schüle n Potsdam signed the Theater and Orchestra Framework Agreements (TORV) with partners
Zugegen were also Lord Mayor René Wilke and Milena Manns, Dezernentin for Culture, Education, Sports, Civic Participation and Europe of the City of Frankfurt (Oder). The TORV will be continued for another four years from 2023 and gives planning security to the predominantly municipal and community-supported theaters and orchestras in the independent cities of Frankfurt (Oder), Cottbus and Brandenburg an der Havel, as well as in the cities of Schwedt/Oder and Senftenberg.
"The theater and orchestra framework agreement signed today for a period of four years is an important support and creates a predictable funding structure for our city in order to secure important institutions such as the Brandenburg State Orchestra Frankfurt and the Kleist Forum in the medium term. The cultural offerings and the associated attractiveness, charisma and appeal of the city are positioned for the future thanks to the joint financing. About this I am extremely pleased."
René Wilke, Mayor of the City of Frankfurt (Oder)
The TORV will be continued from 2023 until December 31, 2026 and is the basis for comparable funding according to uniform parameters of the predominantly municipal and municipally supported theaters and orchestras.
With the TORV contracts, the state will support the institutions with 42 million euros this year, 43 million euros in 2024, 44 million euros in 2025 and 45 million euros in 2026. Over four years, this amounts to a total of 174 million euros. This will ensure the long-term security of the theater and orchestra landscape, especially after Corona-related closures and current challenges due to rising energy costs. The existing cultural offerings will be stabilized and can be maintained at the current level.
