On November 30, Viadrina student Anastasiia Latkovska received this year's DAAD prize for outstanding achievements by international students. The Ukrainian has been studying at Viadrina since 2021 and, in addition to her excellent academic achievements, qualified for the award, which is endowed with 1,000 euros, through her commitment as a tutor and volunteer helper. The prize was awarded during the opening of the Viadrina Center of Polish and Ukrainian Studies.

"As a very talented and motivated student with outstanding successes in her studies, as a tutor and in voluntary work, Anastasiia deserves the award in every respect," said Viadrina President Prof. Dr. Eduard Mühle in praise of the prizewinner.

Anastasiia Latkovska said in her acceptance speech: "This award means a lot to me. Not only as recognition for my academic achievements, but also as an appreciation for cultural exchange and understanding – values that have to do with my personal experiences as a student."

Anastasiia Latkovska grew up in Sumy in eastern Ukraine and came to the European University in 2019 as a participant in the Viadrina Fast Track preparatory program. She is studying International Business Administration and is currently completing an Erasmus semester in Paris. Anastasiia Latkovska is involved as a tutor for statistics and supports other international students in the Interstudi network. She is also involved in helping Ukrainian refugees, including as a volunteer translator.
