Labor market lacking momentum – unemployment rate remains at 6.4 percent
In November, a total of 14,633 people were registered as unemployed in the city of Frankfurt (Oder), the district of Märkisch-Oderland and the district of Oder-Spree. This is 26 fewer than in October and 373 more than in November 2024. The unemployment rate is 6.4 percent. In November last year, it was 6.3 percent.
The head of the East Brandenburg employment agencies, Jochem Freyer, commented on the situation in the commercial sector as follows: "A firewall of hope is still defying the cost pressure and the weak economy. The vast majority of companies are waiting for positive impetus and are holding on to their employees. Skilled workers are still in demand, but new entrants and job seekers with obstacles are having a hard time at the moment. I don't expect the situation to change until spring. We are using the time for training and advice on job alternatives."
"In Märkisch-Oderland, there are still good chances of finding a job that suits your life situation," says Marco Schulz, Managing Director of the Märkisch-Oderland job center, "It is important to actively form your own opinion. Short internships or trial working days can be particularly helpful. They provide a direct insight into everyday working life and show whether a profession, a job or an employer is a good match for your own ideas. At the same time, companies can get to know potential new employees personally – an advantage that is now more important in many companies than a perfect CV. If you would like support, the Märkisch-Oderland job center offers individual advice, placement suggestions and help with organizing internships, qualifications or entry-level opportunities. Therefore, take advantage of the current opportunities – a non-binding discussion or a short internship can be the first step towards a new professional future."
Stefanie Dörfel, Managing Director of JC FF: "As a job center, we are constantly working to be a stable and reliable partner for the people who need us. In order to continue to guarantee this, we are constantly expanding our online services and enabling people to meet us in the digital space. We recommend that before you set off, you first check whether you can do it digitally. From January, we will generally be available to citizens by appointment and digitally. This means that the visit can be planned for both sides and you know for sure that nothing else will be taken care of during the appointment. You can book an appointment yourself online by simply entering "Jobcenter Frankfurt Terminland" in the search engine and you will find the right page – or you can make an appointment by phone. You can do this by calling 0335 570 2300 m and if you are unsure about exactly what to do, just give us a call and our staff will be happy to help. Of course, we are also there for citizens on site in emergencies."
