Since 2019, the citizens' budget of the city of Frankfurt (Oder) has offered citizens the opportunity to directly help shape the development of the urban community.

Whether it's a neighborhood festival, water playground or new outdoor sports equipment: 40,000 euros are available annually in the city budget to implement their own ideas. The main requirements for submission are that the proposed project has a recognizable objective, is to be implemented within 2025 and falls under the responsibility of the city of Frankfurt (Oder).

All residents of the city of Frankfurt (Oder) aged seven and over are eligible to take part. Each selected project will be supported with up to 10,000 euros (including follow-up costs for the next three years).

Proposals for the year 2025 can still be submitted until Wednesday, July 31, 2024.

This is possible

  • by email to buergebudget@frankfurt-oder.de
  • via the online form as well as
  • in a personal meeting with Mateusz Weis-Banaszczyk (Citizen Participation Officer) by prior arrangement by telephone on 0335 552-9964

The main committee is expected to decide on the validity of the project ideas submitted in September 2024. All residents of the city aged 14 and over will then be invited to vote personally for their preferred contributions. The results of the vote will be announced at a public event in mid-November.

According to the resulting ranking of ideas by citizens, as many projects as possible will be funded until the funds for the citizens' budget are exhausted.

Since 2019, more than 120 project ideas have been voted on. Of the projects that were ultimately selected, more than 20 have already been implemented.
