For the sixth time, the stakeholders of the Oderland-Spree region's economic development agencies came together at the Frankfurt (Oder) Chamber of Skilled Crafts in the Hennickendorf training centre to discuss their joint work priorities and the topics of the future of automotive technology and decarbonization.

During the event, the Chamber of Skilled Crafts presented its range of tasks as well as specific projects at the Hennickendorf training center. In particular, current requirements and future challenges of mobility were discussed – for example due to current developments in the areas of electric motor technology and automated driving. Among other things, the educational institution's "KOMZET Automotive Competence Centre – Digitalization and Networking in Vehicles" was also presented – a flagship project for the skills development of skilled workers in the Oderland-Spree region.
CEMEX Deutschland AG then reported on its current project to decarbonize the Rüdersdorf cement plant by 2030. As part of this, the levers and challenges of the conversion process were highlighted. The biggest challenge is that the plant mainly produces raw material-related emissions that cannot be replaced by the use of green energies for heat and electricity. For this reason, CEMEX is working on both CO2 avoidance and CO2 capture technologies. In the future, the latter will be used in particular to promote CO2 utilization and long-term CO2 storage.

The pre-Christmas meeting enabled a very practice-oriented exchange between the players. At the same time, the event marked the end of the first funding period of the Oderland-Spree regional management to support Tesla's environmental development in the Oderland-Spree region. The project is expected to be continued in the course of 2024. As soon as new information is available, it will be published on the website.
