She has been awarded 14 Grammys, released her 14th number one album this year and is currently touring Europe with the most commercially successful tour of all time: Taylor Swift. On Tuesday, July 2 at 6 p.m., cultural scientist Prof. Dr. Jörn Glasenapp will give a lecture entitled "Taylor Swift and the old white men" at the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder). The Professor of Literature and Media from the University of Bamberg is giving the guest lecture at the invitation of Prof. Dr. Cornelia Müller, Professor of Language Use and Multimodal Communication, and Prof. Daniel Illger, Professor of Popular Cultures, at Viadrina.
Interested parties are cordially invited to room 102 in the Gräfin-Dönhoff building, Europaplatz 1, Frankfurt (Oder).
Prof. Dr. Jörn Glasenapp holds the Chair of Literature and Media at the Otto Friedrich University of Bamberg and is an avowed Taylor Swift fan. In a book published in February of this year, he traces Taylor Swift's path to becoming, as he puts it, "the biggest pop star of our time" and goes in search of what distinguishes her song lyrics and music. In his book, he also focuses on Swift's role as a woman within the music business and public perception; how she deals with this in her art - and what influence she has on her fans, pop culture and (American) society.
