Over the next two years, the city of Frankfurt (Oder) will develop the "Industriegebiet an der A12" (IG A12), which was secured under planning law with the B-Plan Statutes (BP-18-002) from 2013, in terms of media technology and traffic.

The industrial area on the A12 is located south of the A12 freeway in the district of Frankfurt (Oder), directly next to the Frankfurt (Oder)-West freeway exit and south of the Frankfurt (Oder)-Süd freight village, where the project developer ALCARO Invest is currently building the second construction phase of the "LogPlaza Frankfurt (Oder)" industrial and logistics park.

The users planned for the industrial area on the A12 motorway will result in a high additional demand for drinking water and wastewater disposal. To meet these requirements and capacities, it is necessary to construct a drinking water pipeline with a pressure boosting station and a second wastewater pressure pipeline (2nd media ring) with a pumping station. FWA – Frankfurter Wasser- und Abwassergesellschaft mbH is responsible for this.

The construction work for the 2nd media ring will be carried out in six construction phases. Construction of the almost 13.5 km long wastewater pipeline will begin in June 2024 and is scheduled for completion in December 2025. Construction work on the drinking water supply will be carried out in parallel. As part of the planned drinking water and wastewater development, the city of Frankfurt (Oder) will also carry out road construction work and the laying of a fire water pipeline in the second half of 2024. The preparatory work for construction, such as clearing work and the installation of reptile protection fences, has already been completed.

The state of Brandenburg is funding the development of the site with around 13 million euros from the GRW-I – Joint Task Regional Economy program for the expansion of business-related municipal infrastructure. The approval of the funding was preceded by an intensive application process, which the city administration carried out together with the Investor Center Ostbrandenburg (ICOB) and Frankfurter Wasser- und Abwassergesellschaft mbH (FWA).

Mayor Claus Junghanns: "With the measures that are now beginning, we are starting the urgently needed development of the industrial area on the A12. The development of the area is one of the prerequisites for companies settling in this area. This will make our city an even more attractive location for the establishment of new companies and the expansion of existing ones, which will benefit not only the city of Frankfurt (Oder), but the entire Oderland-Spree region. I would like to thank all those involved who have laid the organizational and technical foundations for the start of the development work over the past weeks and months."
