Just in time for the summer holidays, the Frankfurt (Oder) City and Regional Library is turning the school holidays into a reading adventure: this year’s ‘Brandenburg Reading Summer’ begins on Saturday 27 June. This free programme is aimed at all children and young people aged between 6 and 18. As well as exclusive reading material and prizes, a special first awaits participants this year: the first Frankfurt Class Cup.
The official opening will take place on 27 June:
- 10.30 am: Children’s Library (Collegienstraße 10)
- 11.30 am: Youth Library (Collegienstraße 10)
To mark the opening, the books reserved exclusively for the Summer Reading Programme will be made available for borrowing. Young visitors can also look forward to small gifts and games to get them excited about the weeks ahead.
Read three books, earn a certificate – and lead your class to victory
The concept behind the Summer Reading Programme is simple: Anyone who reads and reviews at least three books during the holidays will receive a certificate and be in with a chance of winning various top prizes.
New this year: team spirit counts! The Class Cup will be awarded for the first time. This will go to the school class from which the most children have successfully taken part in the ‘Brandenburg Summer Reading’ programme.
Registration is now open
Taking part in the ‘Brandenburg Summer Reading’ programme is completely free of charge. As well as a wide selection of brand-new books available exclusively to participants, the library is offering a varied programme of events throughout the summer holidays.
Registrations are being accepted from now until the end of the summer holidays at both library branches (Bischofstraße 17 and Collegienstraße 10).
