The Theater des Lachens tells an enchanting and unusual story full of magic about love, family and loneliness in this year's Christmas tale. "Grandma's Christmas Eve" premieres on 16 December on the studio stage in the Kleist Forum and will be shown the following week in the morning program for nursery and school children.

The story is about Grandma Johanna, who spends Christmas Eve alone, as she does every year. Family makes her tired and she doesn't actually go out anymore because there are so many dangers lurking outside. She is just about to sit down to dinner in front of the TV on Christmas Eve when suddenly something happens that will change this Christmas – and all the days that follow: An involuntary visitor surprises her lonely life and upsets the whole order.
