On Thursday, July 11, 2024, the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) will ceremoniously open the KIU from 4:00 p.m. The opening will begin with speeches and a panel discussion in the Logensaal of the Viadrina, Logenstraße 11.
Speakers will include the Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany, H.E. Oleksii Makeiev, the Secretary General of the DAAD, Dr. Kai Sicks, and the Ukrainian literary scholar Prof. Dr. Tamara Hundorova from the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. A subsequent panel discussion with prominent figures from academia and politics will be dedicated to the topic of "Ukrainian self-determination: challenges and prospects for Europe".
The event will be held in English. Participation is possible after prior registration. Further information and the registration form can be found at www.europa-uni.de/kiu. A livestream of the opening ceremony will also be available on this page on the day of the event.
After an official reception, the opening of the KIU will be celebrated with a concert by celebrated jazz singer Ganna Gryniva and her GANNA Ensemble from 8:00 p.m. Anyone interested can attend the concert at Stuck, Lindenstraße 7, free of charge and without registration.
